Solutions

Expert Solution

Though, intersectionality is a difficult term to clearly define, it could be broadly understood as the different social processes interacting with one another, along with the different forms of domination or discrimination faced by an individual. Given the wide range of cultures from which students hail in US, it is very much possible that a child might be coming from a marginanalised group that has more than one factors oppressing them. They might be from a different socio economic background, or a different ethnicity from the majority or a different se-xual orientation. the experiences that this student would be having are much different from that what rest of the class would be having.

When in a classroom, it is important that the educator is completely aware about the different forms of privileges that an individual might have had, or the different oppression forms they may have faced. Once the teacher understands this, they should make sure that there should be full and equal participation of children of different groups in the activities that are happening. It might often happen that the dominant group might take over, but the teacher has to make sure that this doesn't happen.
