You work for a small company that conducts "Outdoor Adventure" trips for groups that want to get away from it all--and even risk not coming back.
You are currently scheduling a full week of excitement for a team of executives. Their activities will include skydiving, hang gliding, scuba diving, and consumption of large quantities of raw fish, fresh fruit, and alcohol.
Answer the following questions so your administrative assistant can include this information in an introductory brochure that tells participants what to expect:
1. Using principles and research results from the textbook, describe three ways participants may experience altered perceptions during their experiences. Offer advice about how to cope with these new experiences.
2. Identify one health condition that might indicate a participant should avoid or hold back participation in the week's activities.
3. Suggest one additional sensation/perception-altering activity that could be added to the next Outdoor Adventure activity.
Outdoor adventure activities always provide exitement and adds the beauty of all pleasure trips. During these kinds of adventurous trips participants experience different kinds of altered perception states . Some of these states include :
Narcosis- while participating in different kinds of diving activities people experience a temporary decline or reversible alteration in consciousness which will rarely develop into a serious problem. People can cope with this problem by ascending to a shallower depth .The people who are suffering from ear balance problems, , heart problems and various kinds of visual disturbances should avoid participating in week activities.
Preventive measures
Acclimatization-People who migrate to a higher altitude may develop an increase in RBC count inorder to increase the oxygen carrying capacity of blood. People can adjust to these problem by drinking more water, moderating physical activity and taking remedies to protect skin and body. People having claustrophobia should avoid such trips.
Hypothermia and Hyperthermia-Various temperature related illness can occur when participating in these activities.
Besides skydiving, hang gliding and scuba diving Canyoning can be included as it is an exiting task and which includes climbing, descending, jumping and trekking through canyons.
