The main purpose of essays that argue to mediate is to help readers understand a disagreement over an issue and then offer a solution that appeals to all parties of the controversy. Your goal, therefore, will be to present in an intelligible and interesting manner the main arguments of the opposing sides of an issue and then mediate between them. The essay should: 1-have a clearly defined and explained issue; 2-be organized in an interesting and easy-to-follow manner; 3-include an appropriate amount of information; 4-be fair to both sides in representing their arguments; 5-be documented according to MLA rules.
The argument over the athletes use of steroids and performance-enhancing drugs have become a big issue in the recent days. Particularly, the widespread steroid use among the baseball players. Performance-enhancing drugs are considered as cheating of the games. The main aim of the players is to build the body mass. Mostly, the drug bust arguments are largely spoken on baseball players.
Health Risk:
Supporters say that the use of steroids is the individual wish and do not interfere with the player. It is less harm compare to other alternatives. Opponents say that is harm to players health and also the players are enforcing the youngsters to do the same. They are in arguing to ban the substances.
Impact of Technology:
Sport is a competition and all should have equal levels and the winning of the game is based on this individual skills and activity. Dietician included this as the additional additive. Psychologists are also supporting as it increases the team activity by stimulating the nerves and muscles. But the opponents believe that the performance-enhancing drugs, special diets show effectiveness during the exercise and training program.
Coercion:
Arguments are raising about pressures on non-drug users. Players are forced to use the PED in high-level competition in order to become more stronger than the opposite teams. Even though it is harm and risk to their own health, some of the players are willing to take this to maintain their powerful effect. Several tests are conducted to know the effectiveness of the drug. The results show that only a small number of players indicate positive.
Legalization:
Supporters said the use of the drug should be legalized and to be supervised under controlling bodies of sports doctor. The medically supervised drug will increase the informed user of the drug, and it will provide the clear view of the type and dose of the drug used by the player. The medical supervision and the regular follow-up reduces the risk of health problems among the players.
Government Concern:
The use of steroids became a trend nowadays as teenage boys are using easily. They usually prefer to improve the body image and self-esteem. They also impressed by the role models of the professional player and misusing of steroids to achieve the image in the short-time. The sports rules should be regulated and the FDA should release the prohibited list of drugs.
Fame:
In the U.S the number of the baseball players are using the steroid to break the records. MarkMcG Wire made a record in 1998 by using of nandrolone. Moreover, the audience does not have any negative impact on the players which is the additional success to the players. To keep up the increasing number of fans, the baseball players are largely using steroids regardless of the career.
On the debate on London 2002, Six experts argued to accept the performance-enhancing drug. 16% of the audience supported the use of the drug and the remaining 63% were against the PED. Norman Fost says the anabolic steroids have undesirable side effects and the number of baseball players died due to this. Julian Savulescu said the limited availability of drugs may enhance the focus on drugs.
