Expert Solution

Answer. Open reduction and internal fixation is the surgical procedure to treat the fractured bones. The thigh bone, femur, is the large bone and its fracture can only be treated with surgery. The surgeons perform this surgery by repositioning the pieces of bones for their alignment and fix them by using special screws, plates, rods, wires, or nails.

Nursing care plan to take care of patient will be as follows:-

. To minimise or to eliminate their risks of falls which will again break their bones and will make them suffer a lot. So, stability or bed rest or limb rest is advices and taken care of.

. Support the fracture with pillows or blankets by keeping in normal position.

. Observe the wound for edema and apply plaster.

. Observe the vitals for 24 hours and regulate the medicines in diet to reduce pain and help in healing.

. Keep in check the risk for any infection at wounded area before plaster.

. Educate the patient about self care plan, in which she have to take many precautions by herself.
