c. Algerian war
A. The Current War in Yemen:
The current ongoing war in Yemen, called as The Yemeni Civil War which was started in 2015 between The the Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi-led Yemeni government and the Houthi armed movement. Both wants to constitute the government of Yemen.
On 21st March 2015, after taking over Sana's and Yemini Government the Houthi-led Supreme Revolutionary Committee declared a general mobilization to overthrow Hadi and expand their control by driving into southern provinces. The United nation has called the yemen war as world's worst humanitarian crisis. The fights, starvation and disease spread have taken the lives of thousand of people of Yemen.
Even after the five years of war in the territory, there is no relief or control over this war and the condition is very worst. In recent week according to the local channel Aljazeera, the group has taken the control of Jawf province including its main city of Hazm.
More than 100,000 people have been killed in the war so far, according to ACLED (Armed Conflict Location and Event Data), which includes 12,000 civilians. According to the data of World Food Programme around 24 million Yemenis are in need of humanitarian assistance, while around 20 million are food insecure.
There are several issues with the country which are not idealistic and leading to huge loss to society as well as country. These are as follows:
1. Unlawful airstrikes
2. Landmines all over.
3. Torture, detentions of civilians and armed forces.
4. Attach on civil people.
5.Childrens are forced to join these groups.
6.Violence against women
As per the current war situation, the study of United nation shows If the war continues through 2022, 482,000 people are estimated to die. If it lasts until 2030, the death toll will rise to an estimated 1.8 million, including 1.5 million children under 5.
The War and conflict in Yemen has severely disrupted economic activities of country and hydrocarbon exports, also have significant damage to infrastructure and suspension of most of basic public services. The loss of oil receipts has created an acute foreign exchange shortage, while government revenue has plummeted. Also this led to the fragmentation of state institutions, including the Central Bank of Yemen (CBY), resulted in interrupted supply of foreign exchange for essential imports and payment of public sector salaries, fueling inflation and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Almost 24 million people in Yemen facing hunger and depredation due to war and now with COVID 19, the condition of yemen will worsen further with more than 20-30% decline in GDP and loss of human lives.
