Consequences of illicit drugs use are widespread , causing permanent physical and emotional damage to their user and negativity impact to their families ,covworkers and many more in the society specially whom the have contact. Drug use negatively impact the user 's health often leading to sickness and disease. In many cases user die prematurely from drug overdose or other drug .

Some users are parents whose death leave their children in the care of relatives or in foster care.

Drug law violation constitute a substantial proportion of incarcreation in local, state and federal facilities and represent the most common arrest category. Those who have drug and alcohol abuse are more likely to engage in risk taking behavior , have a higher Co occurance of mental disorder and are more likely to be incarcerated for crimes cocommited than non drug using individuals. The disinhibiting effect is stronger then that of depressant such as alcohol or heroin due to the rapid onset of the drug high with a related rapid release of the inhibitions. Sex for drug exchange and prostitution associate with the need to acquire crack cocaine or the money to buy the drug - have resulting in transmission of HIV to the non drug using population. Maternal infant transmission is indirect related to the unction drug abuse.
