The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was specifically designed to provide more Americans with healthcare coverage, to reduce medical costs, and to make health indicators more transparent. Data on the ACA shows that it has met those goals. Some believe that the ACA has been a resounding success, while others oppose the ACA (and seek to repeal the law, i.e., current efforts by House and Senate Republicans).
Why is understanding our healthcare system relevant in Community Psychology? (2 points)

From community psychology point of view understanding healthcare system is very important and relevant.This is so because health care reforms and market pressure are rapidly moving U.S Healthcare system from volumes too value, from traditional medicines to population health.Obvioisly, in this changing environment a new set of skills required for organizational success. In this context Community psychology plays a catalyst role and uniquely positioned to contribute to these efforts.
Various problems and issues associated with Healthcare systems of U.S are-
1.Too Much Unnecessary care-Overuse and unnecessary care accounts for anywhere fromone-third to one-half of all health care costs
2. Billions of Dollars are being wasted-A report by the Institute of Medicine Health suggests a third or more of health costs are wasted amounting to a loss of $1 billion per year.
