Begin this discussion by first stating your intended future career.(Network Administrator) Then give an example from your intended future career of a proportion that applies two Populations for which you would like to do a Hypothesis Test. In your Hypothesis Test you will be testing the difference between these two Population proportions. Your discussion MUST include the two target Populations along with the Population characteristic that your proportion is measuring.

Expert Solution

Assume that you are a Network administrator. You have the duty of managing the internet connectivities for the civilians residing in two society blocks, call them block 1 and block 2.

Previously the residents of two blocks all had ethernet connections in their homes as the only source of internet. But now there is a new fibernet technology in the market which offers many times higher speeds, at higher monthly costs.

People residing in block 1 are mostly teenagers who study in different colleges. People residing in block 2 are mostly middle aged people. You tell about the new scheme to the people of both the blocks and ask if they want to upgrade.

You hypothesize that the proportion of residents who ask for an upgrade will be higher for block 1 as compared to block 2, because middle aged people won't like to go through the hectic process of installation of new technology, they would rather continue with the old service which is also good for their daily requirements.

So in this hypothesis test, the two target populations are blocks 1 and 2, and the population characteristic is the porportion of people in the block who opt for an upgrade in the internet service.

Give an example from a future Health Profession of a mean or a proportion for which you would like to do a Hypothesis Test. As shown in the text your Null and Alternative hypothesis MUST include the symbol for a Population parameter along with your hypothesized claimed numerical value for this parameter. Then discuss the ramifications of making a Type I Error and a Type II Error in the context of your stated Null and Alternative Hypotheses.
