The difference between small business and established companies is that in later the roles and responsibilities are well decided, whereas in small business there are uncertainties and risks. The staffing in startups are much more challenging because the role for a particular profile is not decided and also its multilayered. This could be sometimes burdening or less motivating for an employee to continue.
The staffing or recruitment in small business should be well planned.
1) Hiring someone who does not have mental barrier for role shift or multi roles.
A startup is a vicious circle where a good financial capability brings good talent and also good talent can draw good financial stability. The startup has to take risk with the new talent as they do not have prior experience and would take first hand proffessional experience from the startup. Although new talent is affordable but they also come less exposure. To make them learn things and then get them to job is a cost for the company. Freshers generally have experience and its not guaranteed that they can do multiple jobs.

The good culture of the organization attracts great talent. Creating great working opportunity and exposure motivate employees to opt for small firms. The challenging role and responsibilities motivate people to work, also make them feel valued.

Being the CEO, you have good hand on almost all expects of business. The detail knowledge about all the field is still a concern. As the CEO of the company you can take help or expert advice hiring the right candidate from the particular field from the expert of that field. A sales person with right attitude can be judge by you but whether he is able to sell your product with his skill sets is an expert area. A good hiring can build the company and take it to the top. Attracting the right talent is the major task. So an expert can help making it streamlined and more appropriate talent attraction.
