please share one thing you learned in chapter 7 (mood disorders/suicide pg 246) that surprised you or you found unexpected.
(hi, some of the information needed is missing, if at all something specific expected from page 246 of a particular book. However a topic that can be discussed under the heading unexpected /surprised in mood disorder is suggested below )
Smiling depression - : In smiling depression there is a stark contrast between how a person looks and how they feel. Here the person masks the inner pain and suffering by putting up a happy face and keeping their struggles not known to their friends and family members. These individuals may be functioning well in life, and this makes them less likely to seek help. They feel even more insecure or self critical that they are depressed when everything seems to be going well outside.
The other topic that can be discussed as unexpected in mood disorder is the link between perfectionism and depression. Generally one should expect those working for their own contentment and perfection to be happy. However in depressed people who have perfectionism as a goal, the link is mediated by self-esteem. These people obtain their self-worth by being “perfect” for themselves and their peers. They often have high or unrealistic expectations for themselves.
