Global warming is the current increase in the temperature of the Earth’s surface (Both land and Water) as well as its atmosphere. Average temperature around the world have risen by 0.75 Celsius over the last 100 years, about two third of this increase has occurred since 1975.
In the past, when the Earth experienced increases in the temperature it was the result of natural causes but today it is being caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere produced by human activities.
The natural greenhouse effects maintains the earth’s temperature at a safe level making it possible for humans and other life forms to exist. But now we can experience vast changes in the atmosphere which created a serious concern regarding our existence in this planet.
A long series of scientific research and international studies has shown with more than 90 percent certainty, that this increase in overall temperature is due to the human activities such as deforestation, industrialization etc.
The global warming is affecting many places around the world, it is accelerating the melting of ice sheets, permafrost and glaciers which is causing average sea levels to rise. It is also changing the precipitation and weather patterns. These changes have affected both flora and fauna. The global warming is damaging the Earth’s climate as well as the physical environment.
Last few years, American society is getting worried about global warming and climate changes, people are debating about climate changes while others are saying that the climate change and global warming is a natural process so that we need to increase development. The debate is continuing but no one is seems to be winning because the global warming is a reality and we cannot close our eyes towards climate.
