choose a song (Kid Rock- Picture) and explain what the understanding of common sense is in that song. Explain the perspective the song is from, what does the singer assume you know, or what is the "enthymeme" of the song. Then share whether or not you think the singer is right. Support your analysis with details.
Answer.
The song ‘Picture’ performed by country musicians Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow presents the theme of a failing love relationship where a couple is shown to desperately try to preserve their relationship while secretly pursuing others.
the song assumes that the nature of cheating on one’s partner under the effect of alcohol and drugs is a common incident and it presents the consequent feeling of guilt in the partners as a common sense feeling where the two sides try to resolve their differences. In the end, the lovers cannot stand the way they are living and they find each others’ “picture” so they call each other and tell each other that they love them and ask them to come back home.
In this way, the song writer and the musician(s) assume that the audience would understand the thought processes and the feelings of the characters as ordinary and realistic and the singer uses “pictures” as an enthymyme for the presence of the lover in itself such that tearing the picture in half is inferred by the audience to mean the end of th3 relationship in itself.
