Ethics is the way an individual or a group behaves which is considered good for the individual, organization and society as a whole.

Professional Ethics is considered as of utmost importance as it helps in guiding by the code of conduct of the Organization while keeping oneself morally upright in the professional world. Let us consider a situation where a salesperson is faced with huge pressure to achieve his targets while he faces ethical dilemma to sell the products by stating some benefits of the product which does not exist at all. In this case, while his professional growth depends upon the number of successful business generated while increasing business by using inappropriate means , also known as manipulating the sales pitch to convince the customer is considered unethical. Suppose, if he had gone with the flow and manipulated the benefits of the product, he could have become a sales champion and could have also got some monetary benefits and other rewards from his higher authorities but in the long run, the customer would never be satisfied with the product as his/her expectations will be defeated and he will pass on the dissatisfaction to the prospective customers. This will result in failure in garnering business by the salesperson in the long run and also bring disrepute to the organization, while competitors will use this reputational loss of the organization as an opportunity to whim away customer from the organization.
