Traffickers are often depicted as the personification of evil; however, they also often come from the same poor economic circumstances as trafficked victims. They also wouldn’t be able to get away with such ostensible crime without a certain degree of corruption, complacency and acquiescence from law enforcement and government officials. Given this, who are human traffickers and what are some of the common misperceptions about them? As part of your answer please make sure to discuss who traffickers are, how they pursue victims and the various ways in which they operate. Please be sure to include what traffickers have learned from conventional economic models, how they apply that to the trade in human beings and what the results have been.
