Solutions

Expert Solution

Answer-) Rational Decision solving process is purely goal based and data driven . It reiles on structure data and choosing the best alternative but their are some difficultues that we might anticipate while using this process -1) Rational Decision making process requires a wide category of data to see through and various screening tests to take a decision, this is a long term process which is time consuming and thus this cannot be used while taking quick or prompt decisions. 2) Though past records and relevant statistical figures inform about the pros and cons of each decision, the people who conducte the decision may not interpret it properly and take decisions because of their innate biases.3-) The data is based on information that might not be true and sometimes people neglect their intuitions and take bad decisions. They face difficulties because rational decision makes decisions on rational factors which are constant and does not factor any uncertainty or change in the world. We should know that wel in a world where Technology and societal changes happens every day , so to rely only on data driven decisions is not effective.

Additional difficulties that might arise because of personal attributes -1) we believe that in rational decision process , the person who makes the decision is very sound, has the relevant data , has important tools and measures but that not might be the case . A person may be not sound minded and could not take decisions with maximum accuracy.2-) The person may have overconfidence biases in believing a decision which is right that might not be right. 3-) Fear of taaking loosing something important for example - A person who is not happy in a relationship may not end it because of fear of loosing someone out. 4-) Anxiety issues to be correct or his/her peers will make of him/her. I have experienced the overconfidence attribute where I was too overconfident about a brand that it will work ,but it didnot. My company gave me a task to continue with the old brand or launch a new brand but I researched and found out that their is a 70% chance , it wont work but still I went with that decision and thw consequences were that The brand didnot work and we had to switch to our old brand.

These difficulties can be avoided by proper training and development where decision makers have to be more logical and trained properly to take decisions after all tje Analysis. They should be taught to rely more on data and less on their hunch.
