Managing the impact of social media in the organization must be handled carefully by the human resource department. Social media has both a positive and negative impact on the employees and the organization. It is the HR manager’s responsibility to utilize social media in a controlled way to maintain work quality.
Pros:
With the help of social media, the human resource department and the management team can reach a wide range of audiences. Also, social media is a good equipment to promote the brand and the products. With the help of famous social media like Facebook, Instagram, and others, the organization and its employees can easily facilitate their marketing activities. Moreover, the human resource department can use social media as a weapon to search for capable candidates for their organization. They can conduct market research and focus on selective groups to understand the demands of the audience. It can help the employees to increase brand loyalty and engagement.
Cons:
Social media also has some negative impact on the organization. Many times it has been observed that employees are using social media for their personal purposes. It may reduce the workflow and decrease the quality of work. Productivity decreases due to a lack of focus. Many times, threats and hacking problems are observed due to the lack of appropriate security and privacy. Inappropriate online behavior may sometimes diminish the brand reputation.
