Ans(3) : Lewis Mumford was a visionary thinker and he have promoted various ideas regarding the development and revolution planning which are very much applicable in South Africa. Mumford argued that the structure of the modern cities is the reason by which the problems are being caused and observed in the western society. Below is the list of development principles that were identified by Lewis Mumford and they are still applicable today in South Africa :

• Urban planning should emphasize an organic relationship among the people and their living spaces.
• Cities should be created in such a way that every function necessary to growth and development should have appropriate space in the plan.
• Maximum number of favorable opportunities should be provided for the large population to interchange their human facilities.
• The planning of the social institutes should be done in careful manner so that the culture and art of the city is understood.

So the above are the major principles which were being identified by Mumford for the planning and the development of the cities and urban areas. These principles are of great importance and still applicable in the country.
