The "Family Guy", an American animated sitcom television series, is a paradigm of a show depicting a "diverse family". The series was conceptualized by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. It revolves around a family called "the Griffins". The family has parental figures, namely Peter and Lois; their children, namely Meg, Chris, and Stewie; and their wity pet dog namely, Brian. These characters are fictional, and so is the city of Quahog, Rhode Island, where the characters are shown to belong.

The "Family Guy" serves as a medium to portray multiple thoughtful themes like alcoholism, stereotyping, and child neglect in its 12 seasons. These themes have been depicted by a dysfunctional family, namely "the Griffins", which is trying to deal with the diverse circumstances created in everyday life. The series gives its audience the taste of satire and dark humor through the adventures of the family in Rhode Island. The circumstances the family find themselves in are evidently preposterous and endearingly spontaneous, sustaining the interest and heartiest laughter of the audience throughout the series.

Characteristically, "the Griffins" represents a "diverse family". The head of the family has been played by Peter. He is also the central character of the series. Peter is conspicuous in a thick New England accent. Functionally, Peter displays himself to be relatively smart, but is actually a confused person. He is offensive with a long history of fighting with a large, yellow chicken. Lois Griffin, Peter's wife, is a stay-at-home mother, piano player, and singer. She even had a short career in modelling, adding to her attractiveness. She has been displayed as a sophisticated women, who only sometimes seems similar to her husband in terms of uncultured jokes and avidity. Stewie Griffin is only a baby in terms of life stage. He is extremely intelligent, which is evident in his schemes against Lois. Stewie has been depicted to be intimate with his teddy bear, Rupert. Chris Griffin, the eldest son of Peter and Lois, is a talented artist and rock singer. He lovingly and blindly follows Peter in his problematic situations. Meg Griffin, the only daughter of Peter and Lois, is often the center of the family jokes. Characteristically, she has been depicted to be unattractive and a failure. The dog, namely Brian is the smartest of all the family members.

The unique characteristics of the family members in the series, the Family Guy, renders an interesting and exciting touch to the episodes. The family members are different from one another, despite being a part of the same family. So, it can be said that the "Family Guy" represents a "diverse family".
