Discuss why it is important defining a performance improvement model in health care?
Please provide atleast two paragraphs
A performance improvement model in health care provides a framework for designing a integrated program for improving the organization's ability to increase quality of services delivered. It improves the clinical outcomes, patient experiences and reduce organizational cost. When the members of the organization decide to improve their efforts towards delivering quality care, they often implement a new process, implement an internal training program, send some staff for training, hire new staff. The maximum increase in performance comes from an integrated approach that include skills, knowledge, process and tools. Active and healthy staff participation and satisfaction is also a significant factor in a performance improvement model.
A performance improvement model involves not only the improvement of skills but also the environment in which the staff works. All the factors that enhance the performance is taken into account and goal is set to make improvement in those fields. It should be a ongoing performance program rather than a on and off program. If such programs are not well executed then they become black holes that suck up time, efforts, money and resources while yielding a little in the way of real and sustainable improvements.
