Solution:
On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the successor to the Hungarian Austrian throne, and his wife was killed by a Serbian-backed terrorist.
During the crisis, European leaders made several political,
diplomatic, and military decisions that would turn the regionalized
conflicts in Southeast Europe into a world war.
Austria-Hungary, with encouragement from Germany, declared war on
Serbia on July 28. Russia's support for Serbia put France into
conflict.
Germany declared war on Russia on August 1 and France on August
3. Violations of Belgian neutrality and Britain's fear of German
domination in Europe led Britain and its empire into war on 4
August.
These actions reflect the European forces' fears, anxieties and
ambitions. Decisions of war were made in the face of rising
nationalism, increased militarism, imperial rivalry, and
competition for power and influence.
European leaders are ready to wage war to protect or extend
national interests, and their choices are made by a combination of
long-term and short-term foreign policy goals, political pressure
in The previous crisis houses and the system of opposition
alliances developed over the past 35 years.
