Solutions

Expert Solution

  • Emotions have three components: subjective component (how you experience the emotion),physiological component (how your bodies react to the emotion), anexpressive component (how you behave in response to the emotion).Facial expressions are one of the more important aspects of human communication. The face is responsible for communicating not only thoughts or ideas, but also emotions.Emotions Help Us Survive, Thrive, and Avoid Danger. For example: Basic emotions facilitate the survival by fleeing the threat whenever fear is experienced,  or confronting the source of our irritation if one is angry. In some cases, when one feel love, one might seek out a mate and reproduce.Recognition often helps in mapping the expression of the other person and gives a fair idea of the other person's emotional state.
  • Cross-cultural differences very much exist in terms of  emotional arousal level. For example: Western culture is related to high arousal emotions, whereas Eastern culture is related to low arousal emotions.Another example would be, North Indians are prone to aggressive emotional contexts however northeastern indians have very low emotional arousal states. Thus the emotions are not genetically predisposed.
