There are many different functions for proteins. Discuss ONE function of proteins and the importance of at least TWO examples of proteins with that function.
Proteins are large-sized macromolecules having one or more polypeptide. Protein is a heteropolymer and not a homopolymer. Proteins perform many functions in living organisms, but the amazing and essential of all is "Enzymes". All enzymes except a few are built up of proteins alone or in conjunction with some non-protein materials called cofactors. Enzymes can catalyse all the chemical reactions that occur in the living world. Those chemical reaction taking place every second in our body are the one's governing our metabolism which keeps us alive. These chemical reaction require specific temperature and conditions to operate. But all these chemical reactions take place at the body temperature because enzymes catalyse these reactions to occur with greater efficiency. There would have been no life process are possible without enzymes. Example digestive enzymes which help in digestion of food like trypsin, respiration enzymes which bring about production of ATP from digested food like pyruvic dehydrogenase and many more.
