Family is the set up in which people grow as a person , where they share thier happiness and sorrows and help each other to grow and develop.

However , the family is affected and shaped by many factor including work /profession of its members, political setup in the region and state , and also the surrounding including mass media .

No person is perfectly insulated and every one do carry some part of its work/culture to home and some part of its family culture to work . For example , family having military or police members tend to become more disciplined and have always a tilt towards nationalism . They also have characteristics of selflessness and preference for glory over money. Similarly a professors family tends to have high priority for studies . They focus more on moral and ethical values .

Politics of nation certainly have effect on family structure . A democratic nation will have family where every member will be having a say in important matters while in communist country , decision of family are usually taken by head of family and not necessarily considering the views of all members.

Mass media has the ability to influence the masses simultaneously and hence family is greatly affected by mass media. Studies have proved that a rigid and autocratic family is found in society where mass media depicts nationalist act and violence more profoundly and is involved in glorification of a particular nation or race .

Furthermore , mass media campaign have helped many nation like Kenya to attain a small family structure and reduced population growth .
