A Campus level (LAN) network is to be redesigned to meet the business and technical goals of an university.

1- Discuss the basic steps of an implementation strategy to apply various networking technologies at the campus network (Hint: consider different technologies following the TCP/IP network model).

2-Discuss An optimized routing and addressing for the campus backbone that interconnects buildings, provides access to the server farm and routes traffic to the Internet.

3- Discuss the considered performance and security metrics on the edge of the network where the traffic is routed to and from the network.

4- What additional hardware and protocols are required for transforming the data network to handle real-time voice communications within the campus network ?

First of all before setup lets see the things thst was required for the LAN setup :

  1. Routers
  2. Cables for providing ethernet.
  3. Also a broadband connection for the internet connectivity.

Now we will discuss the each and every question one by one.

  1. Now for implementaion strategies for LAN setup, first divide the category into two parts as
    1. Accounts Section(for bussiness goals)
    2. others section(for technical goals)
    • As we see the Accounts section requied more security because it have the transaction details and bussiness documents. So we will use a seperate Router here , and the system should be very secure to be build by providing a unique login id and passwod for the employees of Accounts. They all need to get seperated id and password, as they have diffrent works , so no one can intrupt or spoils other's work. And for the others section(techincal goal) there is one router and the things here divided into the branchs as CSE, ME ,CIVIL, etc. Then the First secure account is of HOD of each and every department, also there are two secure channels to communticate within the organisation.
      1. Teachers to Teachers(of Same department.)
      2. Teachers to HOD(of same department.)
    • Techers or HODs that communicate to others department comes to the normal or genral informations so it was not required to be very secure, but for the option there is the secure channel as well provided to give to everyone, but uses it if required.
  2. Now talking about Optimized routing , so it can be done by merging few channels within the departments, as in the particular department not everyone directly communicate with the HOD , so by closing that end we just only leave the channel from teacher to teacher, So if the teacher reuired to communicate to HOD , then they call up their senior teachers. And addressing would done in such a manner that there is no error in the communication channless, we try to build less more error free communcation channels. for that the adressing is to be done from HOD to everyone and also in Accounts from Admin to every members of the account can communicate with each other wthout any problems, that leads to make campus backbone, but also its communication leads to interconnection of Building. There is access to every one to the server and internet as well for the technical works and maintaining and accessing the records as well.
  3. Security performance on the edge of the network, where the traffic is routed to and from the network. So for that there is correct address would be attached with the massage from sender's end , so if there was at the router there is no possibility of the massage lost or wrong massage reciving.
  4. Additional hardware to impliment the real-time voice communication is official telephones that are more stable and highly secure but also there was few numbers to permitted for dialing and there is no call allowed from outside, that makes it more secure. There is no other protocal required for implimenting the real time voice-communtion when we have TCP/IP protocal.
