Higher college of technology want to determine the area of technical college campus. As a civil engineer which type of surveying you adopt and why?

Solutions

Expert Solution

I would prefer Total Station Survey, because of the following reasons....

First of all , considering its interface with user, it is easy and posses very friendly user interface.

It is also very accurate and quick collections of data in terms of results as well.

It gives the exact location of a point with respect to coordinates it is taken . ie., the bench mark point.

The layout the surveyed area or the site is obtained quickly and efficiently.

More numbers of surveys can be carried out at one particular set-up location

he EDM (Electronic Distance Measurement) is embedded within the telescope itself which eases the surveying done

It comes with digital Display and can also be connected via computers or laptops or other devices to store data or to workout or can be saved .

It also come with an Auto level compensator

It can work even in low visibility zones.

The distances between the points can be measured without the help of a prismatic target , which reduces the effort of carrying and handling the prism rod

It can also be implemented in softwares like Autocad for more complicated areas.

Various types of errors which occur during a survey operations can be eliminated

Overall it very time efficient and less human effort in terms of errors and processes for large and vast areas.
