Question: You try to pull a 400-N crate along a horizontal surface by tying a rope around it and pulling upward on the rope at an angle of 30° above the horizontal. Knowing that the force you have to exert on the rope to keep the crate moving with constant velocity is 188 N.
a/ Draw the free body diagram and compute the coefficient of kinetic friction between the crate and the surface.
b/ Is this easier or harder than pulling horizontally? Why?
