Systematic Review in the Evidence Based Medicine:

According to the Cochrane Collaboration Journal, evidence-based medicine refers to the process of systematically finding, appraising and using contemporaneous research findings as a basis for clinical decisions. It means integrating individual expertise with best clinical evidence from a systematic research

The Cochrane Collaboration terms a systematic review as an evaluation of a plainly framed question that utilizes explicit and systematic methods to, categorize select, and analytically review relevant research, and to gather and scrutiny data from studies that are included in the review.

The major objective of the systematic review in line with the evidence-based practices is to reduce random error and limit bias. Systematic review plays a pivotal role in the identification of multiple studies that are easily accessible to the clinicians and the health care providers. Such studies are important in the evidence-based nursing practices

Systematic review equally assists in the definition of limits of what is known or unknown which helps in the formulation of the further investigation. It also enhances consistency of the previous findings to ensure that they bear some correlation with the evidence-based practices. A systematic review is equally a part and parcel of clinical research to ensure that there is the consistency of the studies. By critically examining primary studies, systematic reviews can improve understanding of inconsistencies among diverse research evidence.
