No one should ever consider aging a pathology. Aging is a normal part of the life cycle, and as such is a part of normal anatomy and physiology. However, aging can also bring an increase in certain pathological conditions as well as an increase in certain accident-related pathologies such as occurs with falls. It is important to have an understanding on what is normal and what is not, as well as to appreciate the fact that many elders live long, healthful lives with very few pathologies. 1. Fall preventions-
This programme explains how to keep the older adults healthy and active. Fall is one of the major concern among americans as it causes injuries in older people which are harder to recover. This is not apart of aging but this can be decreased significantly by making some changes in lifestyle. It helps in the execution of evidence based fall prevention programme.
2. Chronic disease management-
This helps senior citizens to manage chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes and arthritis etc so that they can enjoy their independence for long. NCAO distributes various programmes by meeting in person and online that make individuals capable of taking care of themselves and improve quality of life . It offers Stanford University’s Chronic Disease Self-Management Programs with support from the U.S. Administration for Community Living’s Administration on Aging. This makes senior citizen equipped with the the tool that help them to manage their symptoms
3. 100 million healthier lives-
100MLives is an organisation which combines several agents across sectors who are working together to transform the thoughts of people about health, well-being, and to practice living a healthy life.
4. Senior hunger and nutrition-
It explains the concept of eating right and making a healthy food choices.
5.Aging mastery-
Taking baby steps in present which are going to contribute in future health. This comes in two formats:
These kits provide approach to positive aging by focusing on health, finances, relationships, personal growth, and community involvement. It is believed that small modest lifestyle changes in present can produce big results which may help in long run. These lifestyle changes should be practices dalily which will eventuallyead to improved health, stronger economic stability and improved enhanced well-being.
The programme shows a positive result that candidates who were involved in this program have increased their physical activity levels and improved their healthy eating habits.
