In a short paragraph, discuss your views on Harm-Reduction Therapy and its connection to psychology as well as contributions.
Harm reduction theory is based on premise that not al people can be rehabilitated from drug abuse. So it's better to reduce the harm of using drugs rather than complete abstinence which is difficult to be achieved.
It promotes safer way drug abuse , for example using new needles to reduce chancea of HIV infection , taking lower doses if alcohol to reduce it harms relatively.
I think this therapy is somewhat practical and very successful in its aim of reducing the vulnerability. However, it is very difficult to be convinced that one who is drug addict will follow all the safety measures recommended because addiction narrow down rationality and only thing that one can see is how to get drugs.
This therapy is highly connected to psychology as it opened up new dimension. There are patients who are practically impossible to get rid off addiction. For such addicts this therapy might be more useful than any other.
