1) Give an example of where mimetic isomorphism happened and it was a smart thing to do?
2) Give an example where mimetic isomorphism happens and it is not a smart thing to do?
Mimicking other organisation structure is one of the finest
examples of mimetic isomorphism. In this type of approach each and
everything is imitated from other organisation which is considered
to be superior than the current organisation state. This type of
behaviour inside the organisations are usually carried out when
there is no specific goal are available for the organisation.
Universities hiring famous faculties are the example of using this
behaviour. Better organisations have better faculties which are
projected as therefore beneficiary which is also followed by the
lower standard organisations to higher the star faculties for
improving the overall effectiveness on the student's mind.
Mimic isomorphism happens at manufacturing facilities and beverages brands. This type of approach is usually not suitable for such business as imitating the structure of another company could lead to the copyright infringement as well as it would also lead to the copy of the product which would also come under violation of the copyright. This type of approaches should be used only to imitate the organisational structure rather than going with the actual product portfolio and other aspects of the organisation.
