Instruments which are used in descriptive research design for collection of data are as follows:

(1) Observation method - It is a method of data collection which is frequently used in descriptive research, under this method data is collected form the field or the the laboratory with the help of observation by the observer or by personally going to the field

(2) Interview Method - In this method of data collecting, a specific set of questions are asked from the interviewee to collect the data and his behavior is observed and recorded. Interview may be conducted though personal interview or telephonic interview.

(3) Questionnaire Method - Questionnaire is a popular method of data collection. The questionnaire is floated to respondents to get the response from the respondents. The respondents will have to answer the questions on their own.• In questionnaire questions are printed and arranged in a specified and definite order. questionnaires are mailed to samples who are expected to read that questions understand the questions and write the answers in provided space

(4) Schedule Method - It is one of the important methods for the study of social problems.• Schedule is Like Questionnaire but it filled by enumerator . Enumerators are specially assigned the task to get fill up the schedule from the respondents.
