unusal circumstances in immunohematology:

Cw

LW Antigen

V, VS deletions

  • What is happening genetically? How is it inherited?
  • Will this cause a type discrepancy? What will the results look like?
  • How can you resolve the discrepancy (if any)?
  • Are the any special Transfusion considerations? i.e.: does the patient have to receive a certain type? If so, what are they and what happens if the wrong type is transfused?

Immunohematology is commonly known as blood banking,is a branch of hematology which studies about the Ag-Ab reactions. And analogous phenomena as they relate to the pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of blood disorders.

Anti CW antibody is a low frequency IgG against ref cell antigen.

It is clinically significant and may cause haemolytic disease of the new born.due to it's low frequency it is not included in routine antinatal Ab screening pannel.

Landsteiner and wiener Ag is coded by gene that is little clinical importance. The anti LW can be identified in transfusional agencies.

The LW system has three currently known antigen.

Highly frequent LW,less frequent LW.

The gene that decided LW is independent of The Rh genes. But it seems low Glyco protein,in order to express itself it requires an interaction with Rh protein.

The expression of LW antigen may be depressed with out any apparent reason during pregnancy and in some hemolytic disease like lymphomas sarcomas.

They are genetically IgG don't cause hemolysis.

Why is a V vs S plot often inadequate for determining enzyme kinetic constants, and how do various alternate plotting methods allow these values to be determined more adequately? Give examples of alternate methods of kinetic analysis and their utility. The V vs S plot is inadequate because it makes the assumption that it’s only for a single subunit and substrate. The line on the graph usually represents a line that best fits the data and are not completely accurate....
