Rapid Antigen Detection Test (RADT)
- Rapid Antigen Detection Test is a diagnostic test
- It detects the presence or absence of an
antigen
- It is an immunochromatographic
- Result can be seen with naked eye
- Since freign antogen is already present after an infection, it
is more faster. Because on dont want to wait for antibody to
develop
Working of RADT
- Sample is applied on an antibody coated strip
- Antibodies on the strip are coated with fluorophore
- Fluorophore allow to detect the presence of antigen
- When antigen containing sample is applied, it will attach to
the antigen.
- This antigen is then again passes throug another area
containing antibodies against the antigen.
- These antibodies attached to the antigen are detected to
confirm the presence of antigen
- This process is less time consuming, efficient and
reliable
