What would happen if all the plants died? Few people care about the impact of vegetation other than for consumption.
Discuss the impact photosynthesizing plants have on our lives.
If all plants would die, then all the organisms will die because there will be no generation of Oxygen and without oxygen no other organism can live.
The presence of all the plants is particularly due to their ability to carry out photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process of formation of sugar in the presence of Sunlight and chlorophyll molecules using atmospheric carbon dioxide and water. The process of photosynthesis forms of sugar molecules for the other living organisms on the earth. Plants are called as producers because they produce glucose and all other organisms including fungus and animals are called as consumers because they depend upon plant glucose to obtain their nutrition.
Apart from glucose, the most important thing plants are giving to other living organism by the process of photosynthesis is Oxygen. All the living organisms, excluding the anaerobic bacteria, require oxygen for respiration. The mitochondria of all eukaryotes and the simple bacterial cell show cellular respiration in the presence of oxygen. By this process, glucose is broken down in the presence of oxygen to generate ATP. ATP is used by every living cell to perform cellular activities. It is an energy source. So without oxygen cellular respiration will not take place and there will be no generation of ATP. Without ATP living organisms would not be able to perform cellular activities and will ultimately die.
Hence we can conclude that photosynthesis is the ultimate process running on this planet. This process is exclusive to plants and therefore we should take care of plants around us. We should plant more and more trees. Without plants there will be no photosynthesis and without photosynthesis there will be no Oxygen and without oxygen there will be no us.
