Role of safety and health committee might play in surveillance in an organization as:

Surveillance of the health which may include-

  • Committee should ensure that health of the employees or workers should maintain so that they were perform well in their work and improve the work efficiency.
  • Supervision of health at periodic intervals during employment which involves exposure to a particular hazard to health.
  • It should be ensure proper health otherwise it may involve the termination of assignments on and after the hazards which might cause or contribute to future health impairment.

Surveillance of the safety which may include-

  • Responsible for conducting accident investigations and for ensuring that all the safety measures will be pre-planned to combat with situation.
  • Immediate steps to be taken to correct unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards within their authority and ability to do so. When an unsafe or unhealthful workplace condition or hazard cannot be immediately corrected, the committee must take temporary precautionary measures.
  • Prevention of unsafe or unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards. It is necessary to train and periodically remind employees of what to look for and how to correct or report unsafe conditions or hazards.
  • Training and instruction to employees so they can perform their work safely and enforce safe work practices and procedures.
