In a research, it was found that physical exercise may reduce depression which the addicts often suffer from. In addition to decreasing anxiety and stress, physical activity helps increase levels of dopamine in the brain.
FOLLOWING YOUR HOBBIES
One step towards getting away from addiction is to do what you love the most, any healthy hobby would help the mind to be preoccupied with various things.
boredom is dangerous for human people when they have nothing to do try to get into alcohol and drugs because they would find these things amusing.

Some people get used to these substituting addictions which are also bad. For example - Prescribed medicines like painkiller have addictive potential and people can get addicted to them.
