In the federal government, the form of government is at the national level.
The structure may vary from institution to institution. It has many hierarchical levels with both state and central (authority).
Federal rules have higher preference and power than state rules.
Advantages of Federalism
• It provides unity, integration and power to the Nation.
• It also supports the concept of nationalism by governing people of different cultures, society, races and ideology.
• It also supports the feeling of citizenship and nationality.
• Optimum use of the resources.
• It allows the nation to take quick and bold decisions that are very necessary for defence and foreign policy.
Disadvantages of Federalism
• It may cause confusion and conflict between state and the central government in some issue.
• It is the very expensive type of political system.
• It may create unnecessary conflict between state.
• It may cause inequality and corruption.
• It may increase the economic rift between poor and rich.
