Signboards and billboards both come under the categories of mass marketing. These are used generally on highways or roads, to depict the location of a particular store or for general advertisement.
The target audience for any signboard usually involve the people that pass by the road and the aim here is to catch maximum attention or to inform people about the location of a place example those for restaurants, agencies, offices, hospitals etc.
