One of the most important questions arise when we talk about gun control. Do gun control laws reduce crime?
It is certain that several murders, suicides and accidental deaths involves guns. So, one of the biggest issues which comes into picture when we talk about gun control is directly related to its effects on crime and murder.
Gun control denotes to an inclusive term that can be related to the explicit rules and protocols imposed by the government to restrict the guns as well as the security measures such as safety gears or trigger locks used for guns.
Those who support the gun control will agree to impose strict firearm laws which will eventually lead to decline in the treacherous crime like murder because of the non-availability of the firearms.
Those who are in contrast with the gun control would say that guns are not the issue but its acquisition is. Acquisition of guns by youths or other persons who is not qualified is directly linked with the increase in crimes, and not the legal gun owners and users.
An illustration of how stringent gun control rules didn’t help in reducing crime rates in 1976, is Washington D.C. implemented very restraining policy on gun control. But it did not help in lowering the murder rate which rather rose by 134%.
Moreover, another important point is the contemplation that the guardians of children who use guns for vehement crimes have to be accountable for the crime done by their children, especially if the gun emanated from their own homes.
Gun users should be held accountable for the appropriate storing and keeping their weapons safely from all those persons who are not authorized to use them.
