. Women experience poverty in greater numbers than men for many reasons. Identify and discuss two (2) of the main reasons.
Women, particularly though they have the same credentials and work the same hours, are paid less than men. Just 77% of what men make is won by women who work full time, a 22 percent difference in total annual earnings. Discrimination is primarily the source of the pay disparity, not lack of training or schooling. Females earn less than men, even with the same credentials. Full-time, year-round female employers aged 25 to 32 with a bachelor's degree were paying 14% less than men in 2007.
Women expend more hours than men offering unpaid support. Women are more likely to care for children and the elderly or disadvantaged members of the family than men. One research showed that women made up 69% of unpaid caregivers for older adults at home. Since it can be overwhelming to balance unpaid caregiving with paying jobs, women are more likely to work part time or take time out of the workforce to take care of the family. Compared to only 1% of husbands, twenty-three per cent of mothers are out of the workforce.
Women are more likely to bear the expense of raising kids. Women are more likely to bear on the economic costs of parenting children while parents are not working together. Women make up eight out of ten custodial parents, and custodial mothers are twice as likely as custodial fathers to be bad.
