What is the Third Sector?
The third sector includes groups, charities social enterprises and other voluntary service people who come together to help the most vulnerable sections of the society. They fund themselves from donations or by selling goods and then using the money for public welfare.
Over the years, the third sector has rapidly grown in the developed and developing countries alike. They help in providing for such sections which never thought that their lives could improve. Increased exposure to social media and the possibility of mass fund raising has made their growth relatively easier.
The Future of the Third Sector and Change that it would no longer be needed: -
If a society can provide for the most vulnerable sections all by themselves, and if governments had the required resources to directly help all vulnerable sections of the society by themselves, it would lead to an end of the sector all together.
In the current trend, the future of the third sector relies upon funding from the corporate sectors. The governments across the globe have mandated Corporate Social Responsibility, and as such provide tax benefits to those companies which regularly engage in developing the same. The third sector thus has a future through direct corporate management which will cause it to solve problems in a much easier manner and funding which will also help.
