Leadership & Management style:
Autocratic:
The final task-oriented management style, autocratic or command and control leaders are "I'm the boss" in the manner of their job. We give workers simple goals and instructions and tell them what to do and when. Autocratic members decide themselves without the other group's input.
Pros: Urgent circumstances where outcomes must be obtained promptly; circumstances where the boss has much more expertise than the team; new training of workers
Cons: Innovative or information-based jobs; also harm employee morale and effort and loyalty.
Example: Steve Jobs is a remarkable example of autocrats who have encouraged ingenuity with their own leadership style.
Delegative:
The final form of leadership is delegatory or laissez-faire at the other end of the continuum. The leadership is laissez-faire. The leader does not offer much guidance in this way, but the group decides. This leadership approach can be challenging for most businessmen to imagine — we prefer to be highly-tasking people with strong opinions who expect immediate results. However, despite the increasing interest in promoting leadership styles, several leading companies have explored additional delegative leadership.
Pros: Motivated, highly trained and professional staff.
Cons: Situations requiring fast findings; new or untrained staff; staff refusing to accept responsibility; staff needing guidance; staff unable to agree
Example: The Tony Hsieh method of 'holacracy' is being used at Zappos and an example of delegative style at work.
Demographic:
A mixture of task-oriented and people-oriented management is called democratic or participatory leadership. The Leader offers direction and guidelines but allows workers to provide input and to take account of their views even if the final decisions are taken.
Pros: loyalty promotion; employee morale boosting; job improvement; product quality and innovation.
Cons: Emergency situations where a quick response is necessary, Bill Gates gave himself a lot of autonomy and listened to his opinions, especially in his management. Microsoft has now continued its successful activity due to this style of leadership.
