CSR stands for corporate social responsibility. Corporate social responsibility comes from the notion that corporates use the resources which are a part of the society and it is in the best interest of the corporate if the society is also growing in a sustainable way. Companies are not just exploiting resources of the society for monetary gains. The effect of this in the community has been so far mostly positive and it has not just helped the society in helping certain section of society but also acted as a positive image creation for the company. The examples can be
· Contributing towards the educational facilities for the lower income class children.
· Contribution towards the cleanliness drive for the environment.
· Contribution towards the development of wildlife protection.
The companies in most countries are required to spend a certain proportion of their net profit for the CSR activities once they reach a certain level of profit but are free to use the areas in which they want to spend the funds. Most companies have spent some of their CSR funds for creating better education facilities for the children of lower income group and provide better facilities like Free internet, E library access. Companies have also spent a significant resource on cleanliness drive for the near by environment because it does help in reducing the illness among people. Companies have also allocated funds toward the protection of wildlife animals who are on the verge of extinction. The protection of wildlife is very important from the perspective of the ecological balance.
