The nature of operations and services provided by the ground handler in relation to air cargo handling at Changi airport are as below:
1. Loading and unloading of cargo: The ground handler is responsible for loading and unloading of cargo to and from the aircraft and manages the entire sequence of activities involved in loading and unloading of cargo such as transportation, lifting, equipment handling etc.
2. Conveyor belt handing: Ground handler is also responsible for getting the cargo from the conveyor belts for outbound flights and also loading it back to the conveyor belts for inbound flights. This is an important aspect of whole job and precision is required for it.
3. Handling cargo with care: It is the responsibility of ground handler to handle all the cargo with care and see to it that no damages occur. Also care must be taken while transportation and loading/unloading of cargo as well.
4. Cargo theft: In cases where cargo is misplaced or is stolen, it is the ground handler's responsibility to ascertain that and look into the issue. They must work together to find the misplaced cargo and inform about theft to the concerned authorities as well.
