How were they treated by those who had immigrated here before them? At the same time...discuss how "Nativism" as an ideology and a philosophy evolved in this period as a response to the arrival of these new immigrants. Has anything changed in how some Americans have viewed and treated the newcomers who have come to the United States in the 150+ years since the Market Revolution?
The role of immigrants in the early19th Century market revolution and new market-based society were coming from southern Europe, eastern and native-born Americans of northern European that lead to grow in the diversification in the culture, relligions, new languages, racial and customs. The reason behind this drastically increase in the immigrants were due to various reasons such as liberalisation in the european political system, increasing in the growth rates and decreasing in the mortality rates in Europe, Increase in the demand of workforce in the various Urban Industries, transformation from ruralization into urbanization, development in the world made it easier to travel one place to another at very lower cost.
The growth of immigration was directly impacted on demographical size which lead to increase in the population. Due to the diversification in the culture, relligions, new languages, racial and customs, these immigrants contributed their different working skill levels in the growth of US Industrialisation System. The workforce population of immigrants impacted on the some part of wages of native workforce. Additionally, it will be not wrong to say that Immigration has played major role in the growth of US economy. It can be also said that the immigration impacted positively in the GDP growth rate due to increase in the productivity that leads to the higher outputs in the production.
The immigration growth were creating anxiety and sense of fear from foreigners (xenophobia) in the mind of native people. The adoption of culture and thoughts were always became the confliction between the immigrants and native people. In nativism, political intervened with anti-immigrant restrictionism and favoured to the rights of the native people. In this time, nativism was come up with supporter of cultural, financial, social and moral cost to societ for the native people. The main goal of nativism was to control immigration and restriction on immigrants and control their behavior and deprived from opportunities, schooling, services etc.
Hence, it can be shown that in today's era the major policy issue for immigration is more supportive for immigration. Now, the countries are hiring more talented and skilled people for their countries who can collaborate in their countries growth. The countries are creating more opportunities for the socioeconomic advancement, providing permanent citizenship to them and social integration of immigrants.
