Solutions

Expert Solution

a) For every company, the manufacture of a product is important. It is necessary to define the difference between order winning and order qualifiers. In most markets, it is necessary for a business to achieve certain criteria to even be considered as a possible supplier. In only a few businesses is it necessary to do well in all criteria. Order winning are those criteria which, assuming all competitors have qualified, actually result in a won order. Demand increases day by day with new things. Some order qualifiers have the potential to become order winners.

b) If we talk about store chains which means that one of a series of shops owned by one firm and selling the same goods. As given in question Wal-mart is also a kind of store chain where people purchasing things for use For selling the product there are various store chains present.

c) To determine the total number of units sold per week by the store chain, its all depend on the product. Calculate the number of units sold by total valuation by dividing the amount of inventory sold off during the calculation period by the price to produce each unit separately.

d) In 1 hour = 60 minutes and as given assume 2 shifts working 5 days a week. In working days there is 2 shift, it means that approximately in 1 shift(9 am - 4 pm and 4 pm-11 pm) there is 7 hours, it means that in 7 hours we have 420 minute.

Calculation : (420 minutes production time) - (10 minutes for break) - (10 minutes for meeting to decide) - (30 minute for lunch) = 370 minutes actual work time to manage.

370 minutes actual work time * 90 percent efficiency = 333 minutes productive time.

Hence, we have only 333 minutes to 1000 units of product.

Taken time = 333 / 1000 = 0.333 minute per unit

Units per minute = 1 Unit / 0.333 minute per unit = 3 units per minute ( round off value)

For 1 hour = 3 * 60 = 180 units.

So it means, in 1 shift = 7 * 60 * 3 = 1260 unit and in 2 shift, 2 * 1260 = 2520 units of product.

And for 5 days in a week = 2520 * 5 = 12600 units product produced in a week.

Therfore, 180 units number of products that must be produced per hour to meet shipment requirments.
