Sternbergs triangular love can be exapljned by three key terms and their permutation and combinations.
The three variables being, intimacy, passion and commitment.
Intimacy + passion = romantic love
Intimacy + commitment = companion love
Passion + commitment = Fatuous love
Intimacy is what ties two people together both physically and emotionally
Passion is carnal in nature
And commitment is making of plans which are long and short term in nature.
The combination of all three is the ideal love circle, which is consummate love.
Our society has redefined the bounds of love and what it is, due to its exuberant and extrapolated portrayal and depiction in media and movies. It has changed the way the hinder generation experiences love, and it has also, in a way, corrupted the very definition.
Earlier the social norms and rules revolved more so around having a real and face to face interaction, although the norms have experiences shift with respect to the initiation process and have in turn takes a more virtual approach towards the entire concept.
It has led people to go on sites such as match.com and let such sites, with the help of algorithms, select people for one another.
