What do you see as the strongest moral consideration in favor of capitalism? What do you see as the strongest objection to it?
Capitalism
Capitalism is an economic system where the factors of production are owned by private entities. It requires free market economy. It distributes goods and services according to supply and demand.
Strongest moral code in favor of capitalism:
The natural right to property: Everyone should have the freedom to own their own property and to do what they wish with minimal governmental intervention. But Karl Marx argues that property should not be owned privately because it gives the owners unfair power.
Strongest objection to capitalism:
Capitalism leads to exploitation and alienation: It is based on the notion that the wealthy will treat workers poorly and feel morally justified to do so. Workers work in slavery conditions and cause dehumanization as they compete for jobs and promotions.
Employers separated from workers can see their workers as a means to an end. Workers separated from employers can see other workers as a means to an end. Here, one is not seeing the product of their labor and loses a sense of responsibility or purpose.
I hope that was helpful :)
