The operating system and the developer tools are very hard to imitate. These are the major revenue generators for the company and many companies have failed while trying to imitate them. Xbox has a competition in the market but is very valuable for the company. This is a product of Microsoft that is used across the globe by millions of people. It adds a lot of value to the company both financially and also with the product portfolio. The developer tools are not easily substitutable and they are in the market for a very long time now. No other company could come up with products that could replace these products from Microsoft. Both search service and the smartphone business are valuable to the company but the company has not seen much of success with these two core competencies. The company still firmly believes in these two competencies and they are still working on making them better.
