3) Analyze security, privacy, ethical, and legal issues related to the digital information world and marketing
Digital data is increasingly becoming more and more complex and the security concerns grow with them. Not only is the data in the prying eyes of the attackers and hackers that make use of our data for their own purposes like ransom, even companies have started utilizing our personal as well as private dasta for the purpose of feeding their big data analytics machine in order to create predictions that help them run their business.
The security issues include:-
Viruses, trojan, malware and other attacks.
Botnet attacks.
Brute force attacks.
Phishing attacks.
Privacy is the main concern nowadays,with all the data we leave as an online footprint we need to be concerned with the technologies that allow us to protect our privacy which includes things like:-
Using a VPN
Firewall
Antiviruses
Learning about the various attacks and safeguard against them.
In the ethical light, we can see that our data is used by the companies sometimes even without our permission for example in the case of Facebook and the cambridge analytica scandal. This is especially a concern for ethical grounds in the sense that these problems are what causes both the breach in the privacy and security concerns.
Legally speaking, there are laws and safeguards in place by the government but, since the laws are different in different countries, states, it is not easy to maintain a single rule that takes care of all the problems this causes and therefore, it causes the government to resort to methods like screening and bans which safeguards people as well as restrict the freedom for particular areas at the same time which is not good either.
